Shower Glass Door Repair in Dubai
A shower door that drags on the floor, leaks water onto the bathroom tiles or won’t stay closed can usually be fixed in one visit. We repair hinged, sliding and frameless shower doors and fixed glass screens: hinges, clamps, seals, rollers, handles and glass.
Why shower doors fail
A frameless shower door is a heavy sheet of toughened glass hanging on two small hinges, opened and closed several times a day in a wet, warm room. Over time the hinges loosen and the door drops, seals go hard and yellow, and white mineral deposits from tap water build up on hinges and rollers. Cleaning products that are too strong also attack seals and fittings.
Most of these faults are in the fittings, not the glass. Replacing a hinge, a seal or a roller is quick and costs far less than a new enclosure.

Why is my shower door leaking?
Run the shower with the door closed for a minute, then look for where the water appears. The spot tells you which part has failed.
Under the door
The drip seal along the bottom edge is split, hard or missing, or the door has dropped and the seal is bent. A new seal, plus a hinge adjustment if needed, stops it.
At the hinge side
The gap between the door and the wall or fixed panel has lost its side seal. We fit a new seal cut to the glass thickness.
Where the door closes
The magnetic strips no longer pull the door tight, or the door no longer meets the panel square. New magnetic seals and a hinge re-set close the gap.
Along the base or tray
The silicone line has cracked or come away, so water gets behind the glass. We cut out the old silicone, dry the joint and reseal it.
Shower glass that breaks by itself
Shower doors are made from toughened (tempered) glass, which breaks into small, blunt pieces instead of large sharp shards. That is why it is used, but it also means a pane can’t be cut, drilled or repaired once it is damaged (more on tempered glass).
A pane that shatters with no one touching it usually had a chip on its edge, or was under strain from a hinge or clamp that was set too tight or had worked loose. Much more rarely, a tiny nickel sulphide particle trapped in the glass during manufacture expands over time and breaks it from the inside. If your shower glass has broken
- Keep everyone out of the bathroom and don’t walk in barefoot
- Don’t pull loose pieces out of the hinges or clamps by hand
- Take a photo of the frame, hinges and any glass still in place and send it to us
- We remove the remaining glass, check the fittings and measure for a new pane

Shower hinges, seals and the parts that actually leak
A shower door that drips is almost never a glass problem. It is a hinge that has dropped a few millimetres, or a seal that has gone hard and stopped touching the glass. Both are cheap parts. Getting the right one is the difficult bit, because shower hardware is not standardised, and most of what is fitted in Dubai apartments comes from three or four different system suppliers. Hinges
Wall-to-glass
Fixed to the tiled wall on one side, clamped to the glass on the other. The wall plate is usually the part that works loose, because the fixings are into tile and whatever sits behind it.
Glass-to-glass
Joins an opening panel to a fixed one, normally at 90 or 180 degrees. Replacing it means matching the angle and the glass thickness, not just the look.
Pivot and cam adjustment
Most quality shower hinges have an internal cam that sets the self-closing angle and the zero point. A door that swings open on its own has usually lost its cam setting, not its hinge.
Gaskets inside the clamp
Thin rubber pads between metal and glass. When they flatten the panel shifts, the door drops at the handle side and starts catching on the tray. The hinge looks fine and the door is not.
Seals and water management
- Magnetic strips the two profiles that meet when the door closes. They come in matched pairs at set angles, so a strip bought on its own usually will not close flat.
- Bottom sweep and drip strip the clear fin that throws water back into the tray. This is the single most common cause of a puddle outside the shower, and it is a five minute part.
- Side and U-channel seals the fins that run down the hinge side and along a fixed panel. They harden with heat and cleaning chemicals and stop bending back.
- Silicone line the bead where glass meets tile or tray. Silicone is a waterproofing joint, not an adhesive. If a panel is being held up by silicone, the fixing underneath has already failed.
- Support bar and bracket the bar across the top of a walk-in panel. A loose bracket lets the panel flex, which breaks the silicone line and starts the leak somewhere else entirely.
What cannot be done to shower glass
Shower panels are toughened safety glass. Once toughened they cannot be cut, drilled or edged. That has three practical consequences worth knowing before anyone quotes you:
- New hinges must match the existing cut-outs exactly, or the panel has to be remade.
- A chipped edge cannot be polished out. It can be monitored, but the chip is a stress point.
- Glass that shatters into small cubes on its own has not been hit. That is usually a nickel sulphide inclusion or an edge stress that was there from the day it was installed.

What a shower door repair visit involves
- Check. We open and close the door, check it’s level and find where water escapes.
- Support the glass. The door is held while hinges or clamps are loosened, so the glass isn’t strained.
- Replace. Worn hinges, seals, rollers or handles are swapped for parts matched to the glass thickness and finish.
- Reseal. Failed silicone is cut out and the joints resealed where needed.
- Test. We run water against the door to check the leak has stopped.

Why is my shower door leaking at the bottom?
The bottom drip seal is worn, split or missing, or the door has dropped so the seal no longer meets the floor. A new seal and a hinge adjustment usually stop it.
Why does my shower door leak even when it’s closed?
Water is escaping through a worn side seal, weak magnetic strips or failed silicone at the base. Run the shower and see where the water appears, then send us a photo of that spot.
Can a sagging shower door be fixed?
Yes. We tighten or replace the hinges and re-level the door so it clears the floor and closes evenly against the seals.
Can you replace just the seal?
Yes. Seals and magnetic strips are replaced on their own. Send a photo of the door edge so we can match the profile and glass thickness.
Can cracked shower glass be repaired?
No. Shower glass is toughened safety glass and can’t be repaired once cracked or chipped. The pane is replaced with new glass made to size.
Why did my shower glass shatter on its own?
Usually an edge chip or strain from a hinge or clamp. Rarely, a tiny nickel sulphide particle in the glass causes it. In every case the pane is replaced and the fittings are checked.
Can one panel of a shower enclosure be replaced?
Yes. A single door or fixed panel can be replaced with new toughened glass made to the same size, keeping the other panels and fittings if they are in good condition.
Is it safe to use a shower with a wobbly glass panel?
It’s best not to. A loose clamp or support bar puts strain on the glass. Get the fittings tightened or replaced before using the shower normally.
How long does a shower door repair take?
Hinge, seal, handle and roller jobs are usually done in one visit of 1–2 hours. Glass replacement needs the pane made to size first.
Do you repair sliding shower doors?
Yes. We replace rollers, rails, floor guides and stoppers, and clean and re-align the track so the door slides smoothly.
